There are five kinds of interests:
- Self-Interests: All kinds of things that benefits me and don’t affect society in any way.
- Social-Interests: All kinds of things that benefits society as a whole but don’t affect me in a direct obvious way.
- Common Interests: All kinds of things that benefits both me and the society in a direct obvious way.
- Anti-Social Self Interests: All kinds of things that benefits me but ruins the society.
- Anti-Individual Social Interests: All kinds of things that benefits the whole society but ruins my life.
The Capitalist Morality (Individualism): is the kind of morality claiming that the pursuit of profit and self-interests only can benefit society as a whole in a magic way. Greed, selfishness and seeking the anti-social self-interests is the smart thing to do according to that kind of morality and it doesn’t ruin society at all but benefits it in a magic supernatural way.
The Communist Morality (Socialism): is the kind of morality claiming that the pursuit of social benefits only can benefit every single individual in a magic way. Altruism, denying the self-interests and seeking the anti-individual social-interests is the smart thing to do according to that kind of morality and it doesn’t ruin autonomy or any individuals’ lives at all.
It can never be more obvious that there is a right morality in here which supports:
- Balance between Self and Social Interests.
- Exchanging Benefits.
- Cooperation to achieve the Social Interests.
- An Organization responsible and devoted to care for the social interests which we call “the state”. That’s why anarcho-capitalists and selfish bastards in general have to deny the existence of social interests at all just to justify denying the necessity of the state.
- Avoiding extremes as much as possible, which are both anti-social behavior and anti-individual behavior. And that means we have to endure and accept some loss in self-interests and social-interests for the common good of us all.
Now another level for advanced moralists…
Even the self-interests can be classified into (1) immediate interests and (2) future interests. Most of us will live another 10 years or 20 years or 30 years according to its age and its lifestyle. Some people only pursuit their immediate pleasures and their immediate interests making themselves in the future sick or bankrupted or miserable… that’s an advanced level of selfishness and capitalist stupidity.
And also we don’t have to deny ourselves our immediate interests for accumulating more interests to a future that never comes, and maybe we die before we actually enjoy life… that’s also foolish and we call it stinginess and suppression. Morality is NOT about extremism at all, on the contrary it’s about balance between me and others, me now and me in the future.
And in the same way the social-interests shall not seek immediate social interests only, because society have to survive for centuries… living all the time in the now and denying the future is stupid and selfish. There has to be consideration for the future generations also, we can’t just borrow from their interests and ruin the planet for them… so when they become adults they find themselves bankrupted or even face extinction. Global warming and resources depletion are just few consequences of the selfish morality on the social scale, denying the future and living in the now… and just consuming everything to the death like viruses! That’s why environmentalism is not an idealist attitude, it’s very practical… it’s not selfish and self-deluded only.
What makes people that selfish anyway is their “Lack of Endurance”. They have spoiled narcissistic characters addicted to immediate pleasures only and can never think of anything more. They cannot endure pain or loss or failure, so they can never accept the idea of losing some pleasures for their future selves or losing some more immediate pleasures for some other alien people… that’s so far from them. They are living in a nutshell they call the self and fear coming out even for a while, and those are who made up that morality of denial (like Ayn Rand)… but it’s not healthy or realistic at all.
Morality is not a burden, and it’s not idealist or romantic or Utopian. Morality is practical, necessary and even healthy for humans… it helps us to control our desires and endure pain, loss and failure in a good way. Morality strengthen the character, learning how to lose on purpose can really make people strong… and that doesn’t make us losers except in the eyes of the spoiled selfish narcissistic ones only. Morality is about strategic living… about caring for the self, for others and for the future of both.
