According to the second law of thermodynamics the entropy of an isolated system never decreases; such a system will spontaneously proceed towards thermodynamic equilibrium, the configuration with maximum entropy. Systems that are not isolated may decrease in entropy, provided they increase the entropy of their environment by at least that same amount. Since entropy is a state function, the change in the entropy of a system is the same for any process that goes from a given initial state to a given final state, whether the process is reversible or irreversible. However, irreversible processes increase the combined entropy of the system and its environment. (Quoted)
The whole world is made of dynamic systems, whether it’s a universe or a galaxy or a solar system or a planetary ecosystem or a living thing or an atom… all systems proceed towards a state of equilibrium. It’s not about chaos or order actually, chaos and order are a matter of perceptive… from my point of view “Equilibrium” is an absolute order. It’s a perfect order that it no longer needs to react or to evolve… it loses its dynamism in the equilibrium. The state of equilibrium generally can be found in nature in a lot of ways, such as the “Noble Gases”: Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon are all odorless, colorless and with very low chemical reactivity… they are not “noble” because they are lazy or stupid, they just are self-sufficient in the normal (not extreme) conditions.
So we can regard the active unstable elements that goes from reaction to reaction to reaction as an alive elements while the so “noble” gases are lazy or dead because they are stable most of the times… but actually all elements and systems has to reach some kind of equilibrium sooner or later. Even all the human systems; social, cultural and economic systems can easy reach equilibrium in no time… as long as humanity remained a closed system in earth’s ecosystem. A human utopia or paradise (a communist anarchy) is not impossible as people likes to say, it’s actually inevitable… soon humanity will reach self- sufficiency, be very noble and will have no reason to react or activate.
If we regarded money as heat or pressure or gas or any physical element, we would find that the accumulation of wealth and the financial inequality can never last for long, sooner or later the market will stabilize and the financial equality will happen… so money will no longer be that special no matter what we do. Actually the market supposed to be stabilized ages ago, but governments took procedures to maintain the economic scarcity for some people to maintain them reactive (motivated to work as long as possible). Also the new inventions in the scientific fields that provided the market with new goods and services has supported the economic instability too. But the thing is the human being can never be that reactive, it has limited needs and desires and no matter how you tease it or seduce it with more goods and services it will eventually sit in front of a TV and open some beer wanting absolutely nothing… like a typical noble gas.
The profit incentive itself is not the same motivation for the poor and the wealthy, for the developing countries and the advanced countries. Money for the poor is a necessity for just survival, for the middle class it’s a good standard of living and for the wealthy it’s a game of social domination… a game of monopoly but with real money this time (if there is something like that). It’s axiomatic that a hungry dog or a horny dog would be much more motivated than a satisfied dog (we all know that), and that’s why the wealthy people and the government are trying with all the possible ways to delay the economic stability as much as possible… trying to delay the inevitable.
The advanced countries can no longer have a high economic growth annually, because they have achieved already a high standard of living for the people… and rich people won’t tolerate hard work and suffering like desperate Chinese labor in factories or African labor in mines. The advanced countries have to suffer now from recession after recession, while the developing countries will maintain the economic growth longer until it also stabilizes eventually. An almighty god would never work or activate because it already had it all, it’s a “noble” god who can only wish and it will happen without any kind of suffering or waiting or tolerating… that’s why god is a failure and a human utopia is a failure. Fake scarcity and financial inequality are NOT real or good reasons to continue moving and evolving, soon they will be exhausted.
We have to be smarter as a species, know the real problem, cooperate together to struggle against the mighty entropy. We have to find something better and harder to keep us motivated longer and delay us from reaching the evil “eternal happiness” as much as possible. Wealth and financial inequality is a stupid game anyway, and it’s spreading stupid chaos and wild instability in our environment… while chaos and instability has to be smart and manageable to remain alive as long as possible.
Too much chaos and inefficiency is stupid and doomed just like too much order and efficiency. The trick is how to remain evolving (1) in a good way (2) and in a manageable way (3). Too fast is not good just like too slow, too much motivation is not good just like too little motivation… too much chaos and variables is just as bad as too much efficiency and very few variables in the system.
